Better Stack Pricing Explained: Responders, Telemetry and Add-Ons
Prices checked on vendor pages on Nov 8, 2026.
Better Stack sells several products under one login: uptime monitoring, on-call, status pages, logs, traces, metrics, and error tracking. Its price is the sum of the pieces you turn on, and the biggest switch is where your data lives. Every telemetry rate is listed for Europe, the United States, and Singapore.
All figures here come from the pricing page and billing docs, read on November 8, 2026. We use the United States column for examples.
The Short Version
- Seats: team members are free. Responders are $34 per month, or $29 per month on yearly billing.
- Logs and traces: $0.15 per GB ingested and $0.08 per GB retained per month in the United States.
- Standard querying is included. Query boost is $0.001 per GB scanned.
- Metrics: $0.75 per GB retained per month in the United States, with 30 GB included.
- Bundles combine traces, logs, and metrics at one monthly price.
Seats
Slack and Teams incident workflows add $9 per responder license per month for channel-based and thread-based workflows. A basic single-channel integration is included.
Telemetry By Data Region
Web events use the same ingestion and retention rates as logs. Singapore costs more than twice the United States on ingestion, so region choice is a real budget decision.
Other listed add-ons: hosting data in your own bucket is $250 per month ($208 yearly), ingestion via AWS Direct Connect is $0.04 per GB, and Query boost is $0.001 per GB scanned.
Bundles
Bundles package traces, logs, and metrics at one price and include 30-day log retention.
Check the bundle against your own mix before choosing it. Using our retention assumption below, the same Nano volume bought as pay-as-you-go in the United States (40 GB of logs, 40 GB of traces, and 40 GB of metrics, with 30 GB of metrics included) comes to about $25.90, not $45. That is our arithmetic, so confirm with Better Stack how bundle retention is metered.
How Metrics Are Billed
Better Stack's docs say that since 2026, new accounts and new metrics sources are billed on retained data in GB per month. They measure the uncompressed size of data as stored, so paused sources keep their usage until retention drops it. Accounts created before 2026 may be on a legacy datapoints plan, where billing dashboards show datapoints but the pricing page shows GB. The docs state this is intentional so existing customers keep their original plan.
Incident And Status Pricing
- Uptime: 10 monitors included, then 50 more for $25 per month ($21 yearly).
- Status pages: 1 included, additional public page $15 per month ($12 yearly).
- Call routing: $250 per phone number per month ($208 yearly).
- Agent investigations are billed by model tokens. Claude Sonnet 5.5 is $2.20 input and $11.00 output per million tokens. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash (US-hosted) is $0.39 and $1.56. Claude Opus 5.5 is $4.40 and $22.00.
A hypothetical investigation of 2M input tokens and 0.2M output tokens on Claude Sonnet 5.5 would be $4.40 plus $2.20, or $6.60. Token counts vary by incident, so treat that as a shape, not a quote. The page also lists GitHub pull request creation among the agent's features.
A Worked Month
Assumptions: a team of five responders on yearly billing, 500 GB of logs a month in the United States, 30-day retention so about 500 GB is stored, 20 GB of metrics, and nothing else beyond the included monitors and status page. We ignore the 3 GB free tier. The page does not say whether retention is metered on stored or ingested size, so we assume they match.
On monthly billing the responders are $170, making the total $285. The logs themselves are $115 of the bill. Better Stack lists "Spending alerts and limits" among logs features, so set them before a noisy deploy.
Where Sazabi Compares
Sazabi is AI-native observability and security. Better Stack also sells uptime checks, on-call, and phone call routing next to telemetry. This comparison is logs only, and we are a party to it.
Sazabi's Startup plan is $200 per 30-day cycle with 200 GB ingested and 50 GB scanned included, then $0.10 per GB for each. Retention is 30 days. It detects issues without hand-built monitors, investigates root cause, and hands the findings to your coding agent through MCP, CLI, or API.
Assumptions: Better Stack at $0.15 ingestion plus $0.08 retention per GB with 30-day retention, standard querying included, and no seats counted. Sazabi assumes scans at 40% of ingest and leaves out issues past the included 20 and AI credits past 500. Better Stack is cheaper through 1,000 GB on logs alone. Sazabi is cheaper at 10,000 GB.
A Better Stack connector lets the Sazabi agent view incidents and on-call context, inspect monitors, browse log sources, and build queries against your Better Stack data. See Sazabi pricing, and the Sazabi vs Better Stack comparison. For a different pricing model, see how Datadog prices its meters.
When Better Stack Is Worth The Price
If you want uptime checks, on-call, a status page, and logs from one vendor with free team-member seats, the pricing is easy to model. Pick the data region on purpose, since it moves every telemetry rate.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Better Stack cost per GB of logs?
The pricing page lists ingestion at $0.10 per GB in Europe, $0.15 in the United States and $0.35 in Singapore. Retention is $0.05, $0.08 and $0.18 per GB per month in those regions.
Does Better Stack have a free plan?
Yes. The free tier is for personal projects and includes 10 monitors and heartbeats, 1 status page, 100,000 exceptions, 5,000 session replays, and 3 GB each of logs, traces and web events retained for 3 days, plus 30 GB of metrics.
Do I pay for every user in Better Stack?
No. Team members with Telemetry access are $0. Responders, who get incident and on-call access plus Telemetry, are $34 per month billed monthly or $29 per month billed yearly.
How does Better Stack bill for metrics?
New accounts are billed on retained metrics data in GB per month: $0.75 per GB in the United States, with 30 GB included. Older accounts may still be on a legacy datapoints model.
