How Better Stack Works and Charges

Facts in this section come from the Better Stack pricing page, read on 2026-11-08. The logs and traces meter has a region selector, so the same data costs different amounts depending on where it lives.

RegionIngestion per GBRetention per GB per month
United States$0.15$0.08
Europe$0.10$0.05
Singapore$0.35$0.18

Standard querying is listed as included. Query boost is $0.001 per GB scanned. The free plan lists 3 GB of logs retained for 3 days. Bundles combine logs, traces and metrics: Nano is 40 GB of each at $38 per month billed yearly in the US region (Europe $25, Singapore $88). The monthly toggle shows $45 for US Nano.

Incident management is priced separately. A responder license starts at $29 per month on the annual toggle ($34 monthly). The page also lists an investigation agent that works in Slack and Microsoft Teams, billed by consumption with per-model prices shown in the app, and a list of workflow features that includes creating GitHub pull requests.

How Sazabi Works and Charges

Sazabi takes logs through one intake, from the OpenTelemetry Collector, Vector or Fluent Bit, and watches them for problems you did not write a monitor for. When it confirms one, it opens an issue with a severity and root-cause evidence, posts to Slack, and can hand the context to a coding agent over MCP, CLI or API. It does not write the fix itself.

Plans are $50, $200 and $1,000 per 30 days (Hobby, Startup, Growth). Each includes 200 GB of logs ingested, 50 GB scanned, 20 issues and 500 AI credits. After that: $0.10 per GB ingested, $0.10 per GB scanned, $4 per issue and $0.01 per AI credit. There is no yearly billing. See the Sazabi pricing page for the live numbers.

Sazabi holds SOC 2 Type II, SOC 1, ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 certifications. Anyone who signs an NDA, customer or not, can request the SOC 2 Type II report and ISO 27001 audit reports from the Sazabi Trust Center. HIPAA safeguards are available on select plans. Better Stack's pricing page lists SOC 2 Type 2 next to its logs and traces product.

A Worked Monthly Example

Assumptions: US region, logs only, 30-day retention, retention billed on each ingested GB held for one month, no traces, no query boost. For Sazabi, the Startup plan, with scanned volume at 0.4 GB per GB ingested (an assumption, not a measured figure) and no extra issues or AI credits.

Monthly log volumeBetter StackSazabi Startup
1 TB (1,000 GB)$150 ingestion + $80 retention = $230$200 + $80 over allowance + $35 scan = $315
10 TB (10,000 GB)$1,500 + $800 = $2,300$200 + $980 + $395 = $1,575

At 1 TB, Better Stack is the lower list price. At 10 TB, Sazabi is. The Better Stack page does not say whether retention is metered on raw or stored size, so confirm that before you model a bill. Sazabi's scan meter is the one most likely to move your total, so estimate how often your team searches.

Key Differences for a Log-Centered Team

What starts the work. Better Stack's pricing page describes its agent as investigating incidents from Slack, so the starting point is an incident or alert you already have. Sazabi's flow starts from the logs: it surfaces a problem when no monitor exists, which matters for failures nobody predicted.

What else you buy. Better Stack covers on-call rotation, status pages and uptime checks. If you drop it, you need replacements for those. Sazabi connects to PagerDuty and incident.io for paging rather than replacing them.

Price shape. Better Stack's log price changes with region and scales linearly with volume. Sazabi has a fixed floor ($200 on Startup) and meters scanning, so low-volume teams pay the floor while query-heavy teams pay for scans.

Retention control. Better Stack retention is a per-GB meter you can tune. Sazabi retention is tied to the plan: 7, 30 or 90 days.

When to Pick Better Stack

  • You want uptime monitoring, on-call, status pages and logs in one place, one login and one invoice.
  • Your logs live in Europe, where the listed rates are $0.10 and $0.05 per GB.
  • You want to tune retention per GB instead of buying a plan tier.
  • You want the data in a bucket you control and are fine with the $250 per month add-on.
  • Your volume is closer to 1 TB a month than 10 TB, and you query a lot.

When to Pick Sazabi

  • Nobody on your team wants to write and maintain monitors for every failure mode.
  • You want an agent that investigates from logs plus your connected GitHub repositories, then passes the result to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.
  • You want repository vulnerability scanning to file confirmed findings as issues in the same inbox.
  • You prefer a flat monthly floor to a per-GB meter, and your volume is large enough that the allowance and the $0.10 rates work out.

Trying Sazabi Alongside Better Stack

You do not have to move anything first. Sazabi lists Better Stack as an on-call integration (it can open and resolve Better Stack incidents for its issues) and as an MCP connector. With the connector, the Sazabi agent can view incidents and on-call context, inspect uptime monitors and heartbeats, and build queries against your Better Stack Telemetry data during an investigation. If you ship with Vector or an OpenTelemetry Collector, add Sazabi as a second sink or exporter beside the Better Stack one. Run both for a few weeks, then compare which problems each caught. Read the Better Stack pricing explainer for the full meter breakdown, or see how the Better Stack integration is set up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Sazabi replace Better Stack uptime monitoring and status pages?

The Sazabi pages checked for this comparison describe issue detection from logs, investigation and alerting. They do not describe uptime checks, on-call schedules or status pages, so keep Better Stack for those if you rely on them.

Can I use Better Stack on-call with Sazabi?

Yes. Sazabi has a Better Stack integration that can open and resolve Better Stack incidents for Sazabi issues, plus an MCP connector that lets the Sazabi agent query Better Stack during an investigation.

Which is cheaper for logs?

It depends on region, retention and how much you query. In the worked example on this page, Better Stack US list rates come out lower at 1 TB a month and higher at 10 TB a month, under stated assumptions.

Does Better Stack offer a bring-your-own-bucket option?

Its pricing page lists hosting data in your own bucket for $250 per month, or $208 per month on the annual toggle. Sazabi describes a separate BYOC option where its log processing runs in your cloud account.
