Sazabi vs AppDynamics: Business Transaction APM Against Log-Centered Issue Detection
Prices and facts checked on vendor pages on Nov 8, 2026.
AppDynamics, now sold as Splunk AppDynamics, is an application performance monitoring suite built around business transactions, with a focus on three-tier, hybrid and on-prem applications. Sazabi is AI-native observability and security that works from your logs. These two overlap less than most pairs on this site, and many teams could run both. Sazabi wrote this page. The AppDynamics facts come from Splunk's and AppDynamics' own pages, checked on 2026-11-08.

How AppDynamics Works and Charges
Splunk's pricing page lists three Splunk AppDynamics editions as of 2026-11-08. All are billed annually.
Add-ons apply to every edition: Application Security at $13.75 per CPU core per month, Browser Synthetics Monitoring at $12 per test location per month, and SAP monitoring at $95 per CPU core per month. The prices on that page are by compute, not by log volume, so the pages we reviewed do not tell you what a terabyte of logs costs.
The AppDynamics product page describes the product as aimed at three-tier, hybrid and on-prem application performance, and includes SAP monitoring and digital experience monitoring. The documentation covers an On-Premises deployment and a self-hosted Virtual Appliance for teams that want data on-site for compliance or security reasons. The SaaS documentation describes a unified observability experience with the Splunk Platform.
On the AI side, AppDynamics' AI/ML capabilities page lists Dynamic Baseline for metric deviations, Anomaly Detection that checks whether each Business Transaction is performing normally, and Automated Root Cause Analysis that identifies the suspected cause of those anomalies with a graph traversal algorithm.
How Sazabi Works and Charges
Sazabi has no per-host meter and does not instrument your application code. You forward logs, and Sazabi stores them in managed storage, searches them from a plain-language question, and opens an issue when it finds something worth your attention. Hobby, Startup and Growth are $50, $200 and $1,000 per 30 days, each with 200 GB ingested, 50 GB scanned, 20 issues and 500 AI credits. Overage is $0.10 per GB ingested, $0.10 per GB scanned, $4 per issue and $0.01 per credit. See the pricing page.
Each issue carries severity, evidence and a root-cause analysis. Sazabi can also read connected repositories during an investigation, so the cause is tied to code, and you can pass the issue to a coding agent over MCP, CLI or API.
Where Each One Fits
The two products start from different signals, so a price comparison alone misleads. This table maps common AppDynamics jobs to Sazabi.
Key Differences for a Log-Centered Team
- What gets billed. AppDynamics bills compute. Sazabi bills data volume and investigation usage.
- Instrumentation. AppDynamics uses agents to map business transactions. Sazabi reads logs you already produce.
- Deployment. AppDynamics has On-Premises and a self-hosted Virtual Appliance. Sazabi has BYOC on AWS under an enterprise agreement.
- Compliance. Sazabi holds SOC 2 Type II, SOC 1, ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 certifications. Anyone who signs an NDA, customer or not, can request the SOC 2 Type II report and ISO 27001 audit reports from the Sazabi Trust Center. HIPAA safeguards are available on select plans.
If AppDynamics sits next to a Splunk deployment in your company, Sazabi vs Splunk covers that side. For a head-to-head against another APM-led vendor, see Sazabi vs Dynatrace.
When to Pick AppDynamics
Pick AppDynamics when business transaction monitoring is the point: you run three-tier, hybrid or on-prem applications, you need SAP monitoring, or your data must stay in your own data center. Pick it when your teams already work in Splunk and want the combined experience.
When to Pick Sazabi
Pick Sazabi when production debugging starts in logs and you want issues arriving with evidence and root cause, without agents on every host. Pick it when your coding agents should read that context, or when a monthly plan fits your budget better than annual host licences.
Running Sazabi Alongside AppDynamics
Because the two read different signals, there is nothing to unwind. Keep AppDynamics agents where they are and forward application logs to Sazabi through an OpenTelemetry Collector, Fluent Bit or Vector, whichever you already run. Start with one service and ask Sazabi about a recent incident that AppDynamics also saw. Then compare what each tool tells you and how long each took to set up.
For paging, the Splunk On-Call integration lets Sazabi issues reach the same on-call rotation as your other alerts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is AppDynamics priced by data volume or by host?
By host or CPU. Splunk lists AppDynamics Infrastructure from $6 per vCPU per month, Premium from $33 per host per month and Enterprise from $50 per host per month, all billed annually. Add-ons such as Application Security are priced per CPU core.
Does Sazabi replace AppDynamics APM?
No. AppDynamics monitors business transactions through agents, and Sazabi does not replace that. Sazabi works from logs, plus traces and metrics sent over OpenTelemetry, and opens issues with root-cause analysis from them.
Can AppDynamics be self-hosted?
Yes. AppDynamics documents an On-Premises deployment and a self-hosted Virtual Appliance for teams that keep data on-site for compliance or security reasons. Sazabi offers BYOC on AWS under an enterprise agreement.
Can Sazabi page my on-call team through Splunk On-Call?
Yes. Sazabi has a Splunk On-Call (VictorOps) integration that routes issues to your on-call rotation, on the Startup and Growth plans.
