Sazabi vs Uptrace: OpenTelemetry APM Priced by the GB, Compared with Sazabi
Prices and facts checked on vendor pages on Nov 8, 2026.
Uptrace is OpenTelemetry-native application performance monitoring for traces, metrics and logs. Sazabi is AI-native observability and security that works from logs. We wrote this page, so weigh our framing. Uptrace is the cheaper product per gigabyte at list prices, and we say so below.
At a Glance
How Uptrace Charges
Uptrace Cloud. The pricing page lists 50 GB free per month, no seats or host limits, and billing by data size instead of span counts. Its estimator shows $0.10 per GB for traces and logs at the default volume. The hero text says rates start from $0.075 per GB, and another section says rates start at $0.10 and drop to $0.016 per GB at scale, so confirm the exact tier for your volume with Uptrace. Metrics are billed per million datapoints, starting at $0.025 per million. Data is kept 28 days by default. Cold storage up to 100 weeks costs $0.01 per GB-month for spans, logs and errors. Dropping data you sample out costs $0.01 per GB.
Self-hosted. The editions page charges a flat monthly fee instead of per gigabyte.
Daily limits are measured as a 30-day average. Self-hosting means you pay for the servers and the people who run them, and the edition fee does not include that.
What Uptrace Does
Uptrace stores OpenTelemetry traces, metrics and logs. Its logs page describes full-text search, attribute filters, structured attributes indexed at ingest, and automatic grouping of similar messages by fingerprint, each linked to its trace.
Alerting runs on monitors you create: threshold, anomaly, outlier and forecast monitors for metrics, error monitors, and SLO monitors. ERROR and FATAL monitors are created automatically. Alerts can go to email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, Opsgenie, incident.io and webhooks, among others. A built-in MCP server lets assistants such as Claude and Cursor query telemetry, inspect alerts and manage monitors and dashboards.
How Sazabi Works and Charges
Sazabi's plans cost $50, $200 and $1,000 per 30-day cycle. Each includes 200 GB of logs ingested, 50 GB scanned, 20 issues and 500 AI credits. Overage is $0.10 per GB ingested, $0.10 per GB scanned, $4 per issue and $0.01 per credit. Retention is 7, 30 or 90 days. The pricing page has the full table.
Sazabi has no monitor rules to write. Its agent investigates incoming logs, opens an issue when it finds a problem, attaches what happened and why, and routes it to Slack or PagerDuty and can file it in Linear. It then hands the issue to a coding agent over the CLI or MCP. It does not write code. Traces and metrics are stored as records: OTLP metrics become searchable log records, so you query them in the same place as logs.
Worked Example at List Prices
Take spans and logs only, ignoring metrics. Uptrace Cloud is shown at its higher $0.10 per GB starting rate and ignores its free 50 GB, so each figure is an upper bound at that rate. Sazabi assumes you stay within the included scanned GB, issues and credits.
On list prices Uptrace Cloud costs less than Sazabi at every volume in this table. The comparison is not like for like. Uptrace's figure is for storage and search of what you send. Sazabi's includes an agent that investigates and files issues, and its 30-day plan is the closer match to Uptrace's 28 days. If you want the cheapest place to keep telemetry, Uptrace wins. If you want something that finds problems for you, price that effort against an engineer's time.
When to Pick Uptrace
- You want OpenTelemetry APM with trace and metric views as the main surface.
- You need to self-host, or to keep telemetry on your own servers.
- You want the lowest list price per GB, or flat editions with usage tiers.
- You want data in a German datacenter for Uptrace Cloud.
- You already write monitors and SLOs and want to keep doing that.
When to Pick Sazabi
- Your debugging starts in logs, and you do not want to author and maintain monitors.
- You want findings handed to Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode with evidence attached.
- You want repository security findings filed in the same inbox as runtime issues.
- You want to choose the region per project without managing servers.
Sazabi holds SOC 2 Type II, SOC 1, ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 certifications. Anyone who signs an NDA, customer or not, can request the SOC 2 Type II report and ISO 27001 audit reports from the Sazabi Trust Center. HIPAA safeguards are available on select plans. For other open-source choices, see Sazabi and SigNoz and Sazabi and Grafana.
Trying Sazabi Alongside Uptrace
Because both speak OTLP, you do not have to pick first. Keep Uptrace as your trace and metrics store. Add a second exporter to your collector that sends logs and traces to Sazabi through its OpenTelemetry integration. Then see which issues Sazabi opens during a real incident that your monitors did not cover. Browse the integrations catalog for log sources.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Uptrace open source or hosted?
Uptrace sells both. Uptrace Cloud is hosted, and the pricing page also lists a free Community Edition you can self-host and an on-premises license. Check the licensing terms of the edition you plan to run.
How does Uptrace charge?
Uptrace Cloud charges by the size of ingested data, with 50 GB free each month and volume discounts. Self-hosted editions charge a flat monthly fee with daily usage tiers, from $39 per month for up to 50 GB per day.
Does Uptrace have alerting?
Yes. Its monitors cover metrics, errors, spans, logs and SLO error budgets, and it creates ERROR and FATAL monitors automatically. You still define most other monitors yourself.
Can I use Uptrace and Sazabi together?
Yes. Both accept OpenTelemetry data, so a collector with two exporters can send the same logs and traces to each. Uptrace can stay your trace and metrics store while Sazabi investigates logs.
