Sazabi vs Highlight: Now LaunchDarkly Observability, Compared with Sazabi

By Sazabi Team

Prices and facts checked on vendor pages on Nov 8, 2026.

Highlight was a developer monitoring product for session replay, errors, logs and traces. It now lives inside LaunchDarkly, a feature management platform. Sazabi is AI-native observability and security built around logs. We wrote this page, so weigh our framing accordingly. We say plainly where LaunchDarkly is the better fit.

What Happened to Highlight

On April 21, 2025, LaunchDarkly announced that Highlight was officially joining the LaunchDarkly team. As of our check, highlight.io redirects to launchdarkly.com, so there is no separate Highlight pricing page to compare against. LaunchDarkly now documents session replay, errors, logs, traces, observability metrics and product analytics events under one Observability section. A September 2025 changelog entry says observability is included in Foundation self-serve plans on a usage-based model.

The rest of this page compares Sazabi with that current offering, LaunchDarkly Observability.

How LaunchDarkly Observability Charges

LaunchDarkly sells one platform, so observability sits next to flag meters such as service connections and monthly active users. Only the observability meters matter here. All rates below come from the Foundation column on the pricing page.

MeterFree each monthThen, billed yearlyThen, billed monthly
Log lines10M$1.25 per 1M$1.50 per 1M
Trace spans10M$1.25 per 1M$1.50 per 1M
Errors captured5K$0.25 per 1K$0.30 per 1K
Session replays5K$2.92 per 1K$3.50 per 1K

The page describes annual billing as a 17% saving on usage rates. Developer lists unlimited seats with no per-seat fees, and Foundation includes everything in Developer. Enterprise rates are custom. Data and trace retention is 14 days on Developer, 30 days on Foundation and 100+ days on Enterprise.

A worked example, using only these list rates and no flag meters: 100M log lines and 20M trace spans in a month on Foundation, billed yearly. Logs are 90M over the free 10M at $1.25 per 1M, or $112.50. Spans are 10M over the free 10M, or $12.50. The total is $125 per month before any flag usage.

LaunchDarkly also offers Vega, an AI agent that works inside logs, traces, errors and sessions and pairs with observability alerts. Its docs describe an example where Vega triages an alert and opens a draft pull request.

How Sazabi Works and Charges

Sazabi bills for data volume, not for line counts. Hobby, Startup and Growth cost $50, $200 and $1,000 per 30-day cycle. Each includes 200 GB of logs ingested, 50 GB of logs scanned, 20 issues and 500 AI credits. Beyond that it is $0.10 per GB ingested, $0.10 per GB scanned, $4 per issue and $0.01 per AI credit. Retention is 7, 30 and 90 days. There is no yearly billing. Full numbers are on the Sazabi pricing page.

Because the units differ (lines against gigabytes), this page does not convert between them. Measure your average log line size and your monthly volume, then price both.

What you get for that volume is a different job. Sazabi reads your logs, detects issues without hand-built monitors, investigates root cause, and notifies Slack or PagerDuty and can file issues in Linear. It then hands the findings to your coding agent through MCP or the CLI. It does not write code or change your repositories. Sazabi's traces docs explain that OTLP spans are stored as searchable records the agent can line up with your logs.

Key Differences for a Log-Centered Team

What the product is anchored to. LaunchDarkly Observability lives next to flags, so a regression can be read beside a flag change. Sazabi's anchor is the log stream and your connected repositories.

Who gets the first look. In LaunchDarkly you can launch Vega from a log, trace, error or session, and Vega can also analyze data when an alert threshold is breached. In Sazabi the agent opens issues from your logs on its own, with the evidence attached, before anyone opens a view.

Session replay. Replay is a named LaunchDarkly meter. Sazabi's Browser and React Native SDKs capture errors, console output, network calls with trace context, user interactions, navigation and session identity from web and mobile apps. They do not capture Core Web Vitals or session replay. See the browser SDK docs. If replay is central, LaunchDarkly fits better.

Cost shape. LaunchDarkly's free allowance of 10M log lines and 10M spans is generous for a small app. Past it you pay per line. Sazabi charges a flat plan fee, so a quiet month costs the same as the plan.

When to Pick LaunchDarkly Observability

  • You already run LaunchDarkly flags and want errors, logs and replays next to flag changes.
  • You need session replay as a first-class meter.
  • You want a free tier that stays at $0 while you are under 10M log lines and 10M spans per month.
  • You want retention beyond 90 days, which the pricing page lists as 100+ days on Enterprise.

When to Pick Sazabi

  • Your problem is logs, and you want issues surfaced without writing monitors.
  • You want investigation results delivered to Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode.
  • You want security findings from connected repositories filed as issues in the same inbox (see the security review docs).
  • You prefer pricing by GB, not by the number of lines. Compare notes with Sazabi and Sentry if error tracking is your main need.

Sazabi holds SOC 2 Type II, SOC 1, ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 certifications. Anyone who signs an NDA, customer or not, can request the SOC 2 Type II report and ISO 27001 audit reports from the Sazabi Trust Center. HIPAA safeguards are available on select plans.

Trying Sazabi Alongside LaunchDarkly

You do not have to remove anything. LaunchDarkly lists an OpenTelemetry collector as a way to send log lines, and Sazabi's OpenTelemetry integration accepts OTLP logs and traces. Add a second exporter to a collector pipeline, point it at a Sazabi project, and let both run for a billing cycle. Then compare what each one surfaced during your next real incident. See all Sazabi integrations, or read how Sazabi and PostHog differ if product analytics matters to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Highlight still available?

The highlight.io address now redirects to launchdarkly.com, and LaunchDarkly documents session replay, errors, logs and traces as part of its own platform. Treat LaunchDarkly Observability as the current product.

Does LaunchDarkly charge per seat for observability?

LaunchDarkly lists unlimited seats with no per-seat fees on its Developer plan and says pricing is based on usage. Observability meters are counted per log line, trace span, error and session replay.

Can I send the same logs to LaunchDarkly and Sazabi?

LaunchDarkly accepts logs through its observability SDK or an OpenTelemetry collector, and Sazabi accepts OTLP logs and traces. A collector can list more than one exporter, so one pipeline can feed both while you compare.

Does Sazabi record browser sessions like Highlight?

Not as replay recordings. Sazabi's Browser and React Native SDKs capture errors, console output, network calls with trace context, user interactions, navigation and session identity from web and mobile apps. They do not capture Core Web Vitals or session replay. If you need session replay, LaunchDarkly fits better.
